Hiddenite Woman Arrested on Felony Meth & Cocaine Charges
32-year-old Kala Kay Nicole Rust of Sulphur Springs Road in Hiddenite was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers last Thursday (June 15) on felony counts of possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, and maintaining a vehicle for the sale or use of a controlled substance, along with misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked.
She was arrested after a Deputy stopped a vehicle on the Taylorsville Highway at Midway Road in Statesville for a traffic violation. The Deputy noticed that the driver, Kala Rust, was behaving nervously. Another Deputy arrived with K-9 Officer Bosco to assist with the traffic stop.
The dog alerted on the vehicle. Deputies then searched the vehicle and found meth, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. Rust was taken into custody on the scene
She was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under an $18,500 secured bond. A District Court date was set for July 5.
Rust has a criminal history that includes felony counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, felony attempting to traffic in opium or heroin (two counts), and felony possession of methamphetamine, along with a misdemeanor count of possession of a schedule II controlled substance. She is currently on probation for possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
