HIDDENITE, N.C. — The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center has officially opened its new Geology Information Center following a ribbon-cutting ceremony held June 26 at the historic Lucas Mansion.

Community leaders, elected officials, project supporters and visitors gathered to celebrate the completion of the new attraction, which showcases the geology, gemstones, minerals and mining history that have made Hiddenite known around the world.

The new center features interactive exhibits, geological specimens, educational displays and hands-on activities designed to help visitors of all ages learn about the science behind the region’s unique natural resources. Officials say the project strengthens the center’s educational mission while promoting tourism and preserving Alexander County’s geological heritage.

Visitors can now explore the Geology Information Center as part of the public exhibits at the Lucas Mansion, where museum exhibits and educational programs continue to highlight the area’s rich history and natural resources.
