Hickory Woman Jailed for Notary Fraud, Forgery, & Multiple Counts of Failure to Appear

25-year-old Symphony Markahlia Anthony of 4th Street S.W. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police early Saturday morning (October 14) on a long list of charges including notary fraud, obtaining property by false pretenses, uttering a forged instrument, forgery of an instrument, and three counts of identity theft. She was also charged with multiple counts of failure to appear. Anthony allegedly failed to appear in court on counts of identity theft (two counts), obtaining property by false pretenses, a felony out-of-county probation violation, attempting to obtain property by false pretenses (two counts), and forgery of an instrument (two counts).

Anthony was taken into custody without incident at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday at her residence. She was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $112,500, secured. She remained in jail as of this afternoon (October 19). District and Superior Court appearances were scheduled for November 6 with another Superior Court date coming up on November 9 in Newton.
