A Hickory woman died Friday following a crash on Springs Road in Catawba County.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the scene at approximately 8:40 a.m. on June 5. The investigation determined that a 1985 Chevrolet Caprice was traveling on Springs Road when it left the roadway on the right side, struck a street sign, and then collided with a parked 2014 Toyota Corolla near Kool Park Road.

The Toyota Corolla was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 59-year-old Sharon Ann Lineberger of Hickory, died from her injuries at the scene. Authorities said she was not wearing a seat belt.

Investigators reported that neither speed nor impairment are believed to have been contributing factors in the collision. The crash remains under investigation.
