49-year-old Vickie Jean Bivens of 28th Avenue Drive NE in Hickory was arrested Sunday (April 23) on charges filed by Probation & Parole and the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. Bivens is charged with possession of controlled substance on prison or jail premises and failure to appear on counts of possession of methaqualone or quaalude, felony probation violation, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bivens is on probation as a result of a conviction on November 30, 2022 in Catawba County for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance. She received probation and a 24 month suspended sentence. Following Sunday’s arrest, Bivens was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $25,000 bond. A Superior Court appearance was scheduled today (April 24), a District Court date is set for Tuesday (April 25).
