Hickory Teen Charged with Attempted 1st-Degree Murder [UPDATED 6:05 p.m.]

19-year-old Zamarion Emanuel Calloway of 8th Street Place S.E. in Hickory has been arrested by Hickory Police on three counts of attempted first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into occupied property resulting in serious bodily injury. He was charged in connection with a shooting that occurred Wednesday evening (January 31). A juvenile male was seriously injured.

Hickory Police Investigators say that Calloway shot into a vehicle near South Center Street and 1st Avenue S.E., injuring one of the vehicle’s three occupants. The victim and two other subjects were in a 2010 Nissan Altima, which had been reported stolen earlier that day. The injured juvenile was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he was listed in stable condition as of earlier today (February 2).

Calloway was jailed today in the Catawba County Detention Facility where he’s being held without bond. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton.
