Hickory Shooting Victim in Critical Condition

At approximately 12:08 a.m. today (October 8), Hickory Police responded to a shots fired call on the 100 block on 18th Street N.W. Upon arrival, Officers found 25-year-old Nicholas Zachary Rozzelle lying in the street with apparent gunshot wounds.

Rozzelle was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center where he was initially treated. He was then transferred by helicopter to Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte. At last report, Mr. Rozzelle was listed in critical condition.

During the initial investigation, Officers learned that Rozzelle was confronted by two black males wearing dark clothing. One of the men shot Rozzelle and then the two subjects fled the area on foot.
