Hickory Rallies in Ninth Inning to Win at Aberdeen

The Hickory Crawdads used a ninth inning rally to down the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 5-2 on the road at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD.

The Crawdads jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. With one away in the first inning, Cameron Cauley doubled and scored when Yeison Morrobel singled him home at the next at bat.

Aberdeen answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the third. Hickory retook the lead in the top of the sixth when Morrobel hit a solo home run to right field. A solo home run answered by the Ironbirds in the bottom of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth inning, Quincy Scott walked to open the inning. Jayce Easley then came in as a pitch runner. Benjamin Blackwell singled putting runners on the corners. Alejandro Osuna doubled, scoring Easley and moving Blackwell to third. One out later, Morrobel was intentionally walked, loading the bases. Sebastian Walcott reached on an error, allowing Blackwell to score and still keeping the bases loaded. Luis Mieses then hit a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed scored Osuna and finished the scoring for the Crawdads.

Hickory is 26-32 on the season and has won six out of the last seven games. They remain in Aberdeen this week.
