38-year-old Demario Deonta Stewart was arrested last Friday (June 30) by Hickory Police on one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Stewart was taken into custody without incident at about 11:40 p.m. Friday at a hotel on Fairgrove Church Road S.E. in Hickory. He was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $25,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of this afternoon (July 7). Stewart will appear in District Court on July 24 in Newton.
