Hickory Man Killed In Three-Vehicle Crash Monday

Three vehicles were involved in a fatal traffic crash Monday (March 11). According to the Hickory Police Department, shortly before 4:30 p.m., a red 2007 Nissan Titan pickup truck, driven by 46-year-old Sebastian Remigio of Hickory, was traveling west in the 1900 block of Highland Avenue NE. The Nissan went left of center into oncoming traffic, causing a 2013 Ford SUV, driven by 29-year-old Hailey Brown of Lenoir, to swerve off the roadway and then strike the fence of Bumgarner Oil.

The Nissan continued to travel in the oncoming traffic lane and struck a 2021 Toyota Rav-4, driven by a 67-year-old Hickory woman, head on. The driver of the Nissan, Sebastian Remigio, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by Catawba County EMS. The driver of the Toyota was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center by EMS with what are described as significant injuries. She was later transported to Baptist Hospital in Winston- Salem for additional treatment.

Alcohol and speed are suspected factors in this crash. Those factors are related to the driver of the Nissan. No charges had been filed as of earlier today (March 12).
