41-year-old Orlando Medina of 14th Street S.W. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police Sunday night (August 27) on one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Medina was taken into custody without incident at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at a restaurant on Highway 70 S.W. in Hickory. He was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $5,000, secured. Medina remained in jail as of this morning (August 30). A first appearance in District Court was scheduled Monday (August 28) in Newton with another court date coming up on September 18.
