64-year-old Robert Louis Sifford of 12th Avenue N.E. in Hickory has been arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers for failure to register as a sex offender. He is on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry as the result of a conviction in Catawba County in 1994 for indecent liberties with a minor. The victim in that case was 15 years old while Sifford was 34. Following his arrest today (October 11), Sifford was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility where he is being held without bond. A first appearance in District Court is coming up tomorrow in Newton.
