Hickory Man Jailed as Fugitive, Faces Additional Charges

NEWTON, N.C. (WHKY) — A Hickory man is being held in the Catawba County Detention Facility as a fugitive from another state and also faces multiple charges in North Carolina.

59-year-old Robert Charles Hermann was confined Wednesday, September 24. The Catawba County detention roster lists a charge of extradition/fugitive from another state. The U.S. Marshals Service is listed as the agency in that case, with a September 25 appearance scheduled in Newton District Court.

The detention record also lists additional North Carolina court matters for Hermann, including bonds of $1,500, $7,500 and $30,000, with court dates scheduled for October 5.

A search of previously published arrest information shows Hermann was arrested in Iredell County in July 2025 on charges of larceny, obtaining property by false pretenses and misdemeanor violation of a domestic violence protective order.
