Hickory Man Faces Felony Meth Charge

44-year-old Jay Allen Goolsby of 16th Street N.E. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police last Wednesday afternoon (November 17) on one felony count of possession of a schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine). Goolsby was taken into custody without incident at 4 p.m. Wednesday at a hotel on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard S.E. in Hickory. He was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $1,200 secured bond. He has since been released. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled last Thursday (November 18) in Newton. Goolsby will next appear in District Court on December 8.
