27-year-old Jaquan Cortez McDowell of 7th Avenue S.E. in Hickory was arrested Tuesday (May 23) by Hickory Police on one felony count of speeding to elude arrest with at least three aggravating factors and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. McDowell was taken into custody at I-40, exit 132 in Hickory. Following his arrest, McDowell was confined Tuesday in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $5,000, secured. As of earlier today (May 26), he was still in jail. McDowell was scheduled to make a first appearance in District Court Wednesday (May 24) in Newton with his next court date coming up on June 14.
