51-year-old Benny Lee White, who is listed as a homeless person from Hickory, was arrested by Hickory Police early Tuesday morning (October 24) on charges of assault on a female and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with felony habitual larceny. White was taken into custody without incident at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Sunny Valley apartment complex on 3rd Avenue S.E. in Hickory. He was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility where he was initially held without bond. Bond was later set at $1,000. White remained in jail as of this afternoon (October 25). He was scheduled to make a first appearance in District Court yesterday with another court date set for November 14 in Newton.
