NEWTON, N.C. (WHKY) – 30-year-old Brooklin Wade Janisyn of 12th Avenue NE in Hickory was arrested Wednesday (September 30) by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony failure to register as a sex offender.

Janisyn is a sex offender as a result of a June, 2021 conviction in Caddo County, Louisiana for pornography involving juveniles. The crime was committed in 2018 and the victim was 16-years-old. Janisyn received a six year prison sentence following the conviction.

Following Wednesday’s arrest, Janisyn was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. His next court date is scheduled for October 19 in Newton.
