Hickory Man Charged With Break-in, Theft

41-year-old Michael Joseph Ford of Cape Hickory Road in Hickory was arrested Friday (March 8) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of breaking & entering to a building, larceny of property, receiving or possessing stolen goods, and possession of stolen goods.

Ford was arrested in connection to an incident at an address on U.S. 70 East in Morganton. Between March 1 and March 6 a suspect committed a break-in and stole multiple items. Police reports show the theft of a grandfather clock, air compressor, table saw, miter saw, and five dining room chairs. The total listed value of the items stolen is $2,100.

Ford was taken into custody shortly after 2 p.m. Friday at his residence. He was brought to the Burke County Jail and initially incarcerated under no bond on a 48-hour hold or until a judge became available. A District Court date was scheduled today (March 11).
