38-year-old Anwar Vanchass Powell of South Center Street in Hickory was arrested Sunday (July 2) by Hickory Police Officers. He’s charged with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two felony counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, and one  count of misdemeanor discharge a firearm in the city limits. Powell was confined in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $100,000 bond. A District Court date was scheduled today (July 3).
