34-year-old Shonniel Gary Vinson Blackburn of 13th Avenue Drive N.W. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police last Thursday (March 3) for felony discharging a firearm into occupied property and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was also charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

Blackburn was arrested in connection to a shooting on 8th Street N.E. in Hickory. The incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday.

Blackburn was taken into custody without incident at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday. He was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $30,000 secured bond. He has since been released. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled last Friday (March 4) with his next court date coming up on March 24 in Newton.
