Hickory Man Charged In Case In Which Multiple Individuals Were Struck With A Vehicle
68-year-old Daniel Gonzalez of Highland Avenue NE in Hickory was arrested Monday (July 31) by Lincolnton Police Officers. He’s charged with felony hit & run with injury.
On Monday, at approximately 6 p.m., Daniel Gonzalez went to the Lincolnton Police Department with several family members. The family members told police that Gonzalez had told them he had been in an accident. The family members said he told them he was parking at Walmart and hit the gas by accident. The family members said he told them he panicked and left the scene.
Lincolnton Police previously reported on an incident in the parking lot at Walmart on North Generals Boulevard. Six migrant workers waiting for a bus were hit and were transported to Atrium Health – Lincoln with various injuries. None of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.
Gonzalez has been cooperative with detectives. The Lincolnton Police Department recovered the vehicle involved in the incident. Officers also notified the victims. After consulting with the District Attorney’s Office Gonzalez was arrested and charged with the felony hit & run count.
Gonzalez was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under $50,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (August 1). A District Court date was scheduled today.
