Hickory Man Arrested On Robbery, Assault & Drug Charges

34-year-old Eric Andrew Collins of 16th Avenue Place NE in Hickory was arrested Wednesday (January 31) by Hickory Police Officers. He’s charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon along with single counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, traffic in methamphetamine, trafficking, opium or heroin, breaking & entering, and communicating threats.

Collins is a felon as a result of multiple convictions in Catawba County. According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, he has felony and misdemeanor convictions dating back to 2009. The most recent felony conviction was in 2020 for identity fraud or theft, breaking & entering, and larceny after breaking & entering. Following Wednesday’s arrest, Collins was confined in the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. A District Court date was scheduled today (February 1).
