30-year-old Robertino Mickel Smith of 14th Street Place N.E. in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police Sunday (July 9) on two outstanding felony warrants from Iredell County. Smith was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a felon. The warrants were issued on June 30 of this year.

Smith was taken into custody without incident at about 5:25 Sunday afternoon at a convenience store and fast-food restaurant on 16th Street N.E. in Hickory. He was initially jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $150,000, secured. As of this afternoon (July 13), he is not currently listed as an inmate in Catawba or Iredell counties. An appearance in District Court was scheduled this past Tuesday (July 11) in Statesville with another court date coming up on August 1.
