Hickory Man Arrested for Vehicle Break-Ins and More [EDITED 10/25 to correct bond & add court dates]

44-year-old Jeremy Scott Young of 23rd Avenue N.E. in Hickory has been arrested by Hickory Police on nine counts of breaking & entering a motor vehicle, seven counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, and single counts of possession of stolen goods or property, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle, first-degree burglary, and misdemeanor larceny. He was also charged with a parole violation.

Young is on parole after he was sentenced to over seven years in prison following a June 2019 conviction in New Hanover County on multiple counts of breaking & entering a motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle, breaking & entering, and larceny after breaking & entering. He was paroled in June of this year.

Young was jailed Friday (October 20) in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $9,800 on the charges for burglary, larceny of a motor vehicle, and misdemeanor larceny. He is being held without bond on the other charges. He remained in jail as of October 25. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled for October 20 with another court date set for Monday,October 23, in Newton. An appearance on the parole violation was scheduled for October 24. Additional court dates in Catawba County are coming up on November 2 & 15 with a Burke County appearance on November 13.
