Hickory Man Arrested for Obtaining Property by False Pretenses; More

23-year-old Gabriel Julian Porter of 14th Avenue N.E. in Hickory has been arrested by Hickory Police on two counts each of obtaining property by false pretenses, attempting to obtain property by false pretenses, and misdemeanor larceny. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Porter was also ordered to appear on a show cause order.

Porter was jailed today (January 26) in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $4,500. He’ll appear in Superior Court Monday (January 29) in Newton with a District Court date on the marijuana and paraphernalia charges coming up on February 12.
