Hickory Man Accused of Selling Stolen Firearm

75-year-old Bryant Nelson Schronce of East Main Street in Maiden was arrested by Hickory Police just after nine o’clock last night (July 22) on one felony count of obtaining property by false pretenses.

On April 1 of this year, Hickory Police took a report regarding a known suspect who sold a stolen weapon to a local pawnshop. An indictment was obtained for Bryant Nelson Schronce.

Schronce was taken into custody without incident yesterday at a shopping center on Highway 70 S.W. in Hickory. He was jailed in the Catawba Co. Detention Facility under a $5,000 secured bond. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled today (July 23) in Newton.
