Hickory Firefighters Respond To Wednesday Night House Fire

Shortly before 7:00 Wednesday night (January 12), Hickory firefighters were dispatched to the area of 819 Highland Avenue SE. Upon arrival, they found fire coming from the front of the residence and one occupant safe outside.

After assessment, one occupant was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated. Firefighters searched for additional occupants and extinguished the fire, which was under control shortly after 7 p.m. Heavy damage occurred to the home.

The Hickory Fire Department responded with two engines, one ladder, one rescue truck, and two command units. Hickory Police and Catawba County EMS also responded to the incident. The Red Cross also responded to the incident and will be assisting the occupants. Fire Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be accidental due to heating.
