After nearly three decades of serving the Hickory community, Battalion Chief Fisher is retiring from the Hickory Fire Department.

According to the press release, Fisher joined the department in November 1997 and spent almost 30 years advancing through the ranks, serving in a variety of leadership roles, including Deputy Chief of Administration and Operations, before becoming Battalion Chief.

Throughout his career, Fisher emphasized professional development, completing specialized training in emergency vehicle operations, firefighter safety, rapid intervention, and fire behavior. He also earned numerous certifications through the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission, including Level II Firefighter, Technical Rescuer, Fire Instructor, Hazardous Materials Operations Technician, and Fire and Life Safety Educator.

In addition to his fire service credentials, Fisher became a certified Emergency Medical Technician in 2000 and is a Nationally Registered EMT. He furthered his education by earning an associate degree in Fire Protection Technology from Cleveland Community College in 2019 and a bachelor’s degree in Fire and Emergency Services Administration from Fayetteville State University in 2022.

Outside of the fire station, Fisher enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Samantha, have one daughter, Emma. As he enters retirement, Fisher said he is looking forward to the next chapter of his life.

The Hickory Fire Department thanked Fisher for his years of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to protecting the community, and wished him and his family well in retirement.
