Hickory FC Continues to Win in Inaugural Season

Hickory FC scored two goals in the first 14 minutes of the contest and held on to defeat Greenville United, 3-2 in front of 3,021 fans at Moretz Stadium Saturday night.

Hickory started hot with a sixth minute goal from Camilo Salazar. It was his first goal of the season in National Premier Soccer League Southeast Division play. Hickory FC hada throw in that was batted around in the box before squirting out to Salazar who rifled a shot 20 yards out that hit the crossbar and bounced into the right corner of the net.

Hickory FC kept the pressure on and scored in the 14th minute with another set piece. On a corner kick by Martin Juanche Gomez, the play was initially headed out by Greenville United, however, Lucas Hazi Pollacchi shot it back and the Greenville goalkeeper misplayed the ball. Sergio Baguena was just to the left of the keeper to tap the ball in from about four yards out to give Hickory the 2-0 advantage.

The score would stay 2-0 into halftime. In the 58th minute, Greenville would score their first goal of the contest. Hickory responded five minutes later when Pollacchi scored. Greenville scored the final goal in stoppage time.

Hickory FC leads the Southeast Conference with 13 points, with four wins, no losses and a draw. They will play again on Saturday, June 15 hosting Port City FC.
