Hickory Crawdads Win Third Straight Over Greenville

The Hickory Crawdads picked up their third straight win Saturday, defeating the Greenville Drive 6-4 on the road.

Hickory took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when Trevor Hauver hit his 13th home run of the season to right center field.

The score would remain 1-0 until the sixth inning when the Drive scored three runs. However, Hickory one-upped the Drive in the seventh inning with four runs scored. Alejandro Osuna singled to open the inning. Frainyer Chavez and Angel Aponte each were walked to load the bases. Keyber Rodriguez then singled scoring Osuna and advancing everyone up a base. Randy Florentino then singled, scoring Chavez and keeping the bases loaded. After a pitching change, Jayce Easley was walked, scoring Aponte and keeping the bases loaded. One out later, Thomas Saggese singled scoring Rodriguez.

In the eighth inning, with one out, Aponte was walked for the Crawdads, and came home on a single by Keyber Rodriguez. The Drive answered with a run in the home half of the eighth inning, but Hickory held for the 6-4 win.

Saggese was two-for-five batting with and RBI. Aponte scored twice.

The win improves Hickory to 18-23 on the second half of the season, 56-51 overall. They finish the series against Greenville on the road Sunday and return home to L.P. Frans Stadium to take on the Winston-Salem Dash beginning on Tuesday.
