Hickory Crawdads Win Franchise Record 13th Straight in 14 Innings

The Hickory Crawdads won again and they did it in extra innings again. Hickory won their franchise record 13th straight game with a 6-4 win in 14 innings. It is the third straight game that has gone into extra innings for Hickory.

The Crawdads opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning. Cody Freeman hit his ninth home run of the season with a line drive to right center field. But the Dash countered with a run of their own in the home half of the fourth.

That would be all the scoring after nine innings. Each team scored a single run in the 10th, 11th and 12th inning to make the score 4-4. Neither team would score in the 13th inning.

In the 14th inning, Freeman started on second base. With one out, Yosy Galan doubled to left field, scoring Freeman. Daniel Mateo singled putting runners on the corners. Frainyer Chavez ground out, but it would allow Galan to score. In the home half of the 14th, Spencer Mraz pitched a 1-2-3 inning to wrap up the win.

Mateo had four hits in the win, along with an RBI. Freeman scored three times. Galan added two hits and two runs scored.

The Crawdads are 10-0 on the second half of the season. Hickory remains at Winston-Salem this week.
