Hickory Crawdads Snap Losing Streak

The Hickory Crawdads snapped a three game losing streak with a 4-3 victory on the road against the Aberdeen IronBirds Saturday night.

Aberdeen scored their first run of the game on a Crawdads balk in the second inning. Hickory would score a pair of runs in the top of the third. With Jayce Easley on base, Alejandro Osuna hit his eighth home run of the season to give Hickory a 2-1 lead. Aberdeen tied the game up in the home half of the third inning.

In the fourth inning, with two out Yosy Galan was walked and then stole second. Ian Moller then hit a line drive to center field, allowing Galan to score. The IronBirds responded with a run in the fifth to tie the game up at three.

In the top of the seventh inning, Hickory scored very similar to how they scored in the fourth. With two outs, Jayce Easley singled. He then stole second base. Osuna doubled, allowing Easley to score the game winning run. Meanwhile, the Hickory bullpen which has been giving up runs lately, was solid and shutdown the IronBirds. Jackson Kelley pitched the eighth inning, allowing no hits or runs and striking out one. Skylar Hales pitched the ninth, and also allowed no hits or runs while striking out one.

Meanwhile, Hickory starter Winston Santos was solid in his seven innings pitched as he picked up his sixth win of the season. Santos threw seven innings allowing six hits, with three runs scored. He walked only one while striking out 10.

Hickory is 27-35 on the first half of the season. The Crawdads will be n the road Sunday at Aberdeen and return home to L.P. Frans Stadium on Tuesday.
