Hickory Crawdads Outfielder Carpenter Named Carolina League Player of the Week

HICKORY, N.C. (WHKY) – Hickory Crawdads outfielder Kaden Carpenter has been named the Carolina League Player of the Week following a torrid finish to the Crawdads’ road series against the Wilson Warbirds.

Carpenter went 7-for-16 (.438) during the week with two doubles, two triples, two home runs and six RBI. Six of his seven hits went for extra bases, while Carpenter also drew seven walks and stole a base as Hickory continued its late-season surge.

The 23-year-old did most of his damage over the final four games of the series.

Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader, helping Hickory to a 9-5 victory. He followed with an RBI triple in the nightcap as the Crawdads rolled to an 11-1 win and clinched the Carolina League South Division second-half championship.

His biggest individual performance came Saturday.

Carpenter finished 3-for-5 and came within a single of hitting for the cycle in Hickory’s 10-7 victory. He doubled home Jay McQueen in the third inning and later scored as the Crawdads took a 4-1 lead. Carpenter added a triple before launching a solo home run as Hickory pulled away for its fifth straight victory over Wilson.

Carpenter wasn’t finished.

In Sunday’s series finale, he reached base four times, drawing three walks and hitting his second home run in as many days. His solo shot in the fourth inning gave Hickory a 5-0 advantage on the way to a 6-2 victory.

The Crawdads won six of the seven games completed during the extended series with Wilson, including six straight after dropping the completion of a game that had originally been suspended July 19.

Carpenter, a ninth-round selection by the Texas Rangers in the 2026 MLB Draft out of Utah Valley, joined the Crawdads in late July. The left-handed hitter has quickly emerged as one of Hickory’s most productive hitters down the stretch.

Hickory returns home Tuesday to begin its final regular-season homestand against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers. The Crawdads have already secured a spot in the Carolina League playoffs after clinching the South Division second-half championship Friday night.
