Hickory Crawdads Open Series At Hudson Valley With Win

The Hickory Crawdads edged out the Hudson Valley Renegades, 3-2 on the road Tuesday night at Dutchess Stadium at Wappingers Falls, NY.

Hickory scored its first run in the top of the fourth inning. Cody Freeman tripled. After a pitching change, a throwing error on a pickoff attempt allowed Freeman to score to give the Crawdads a 1-0 lead.

The Renegades answered with two in the top of the fourth against Crawdads starter Josh Stephan. However, Hickory moved back in front in the top of the sixth. With two outs and a runner at second, Angel Apante and Chris Seise had back-to-back RBI singles, giving Hickory what would be the final 3-2 score.

The Crawdads are 24-25 on the second half of the season and have won eight of their last 10 games. They are 62-53 overall on the season. Hickory takes on the Renegades through Sunday.
