Hickory Crawdads Fall to Bowling Green on the Road

The Hickory Crawdads fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods Friday night, 6-2 on the road.

The Hot Rods jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Hickory could get their first run of the game in the fifth inning. With two outs, Hickory rallied for three straight singles. Jake Guenther singled to center field. Aaron Zavala singled to right field, allowing Guenther to advance to third and Luisangel Acuna singled into left field, scoring Guenther.

However, Bowling Green added four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Hickory would add a run in the sixth inning. Cory Freeman led the inning with a double, his sixth of the season. One out later, Thomas Saggese singled, moving Freeman to third. Chris Seise doubled, allowing Freeman to score, but stranding Saggese on third.

Freeman went two-for-four batting with a run scored. Acuna went two-for-five with an RBI.

The loss drops Hickory to 32-23 on the season.
