The Hickory Crawdads fell to the Wilmington Blue Rocks Friday, 10-3 in Delaware.
The first two and a half innings would remain scoreless for the two teams. The Blue Rocks opened the scoring in the third inning after a ground rule double and a wild pitch. Wilmington scored additional runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth inning. They would add an insurance in the eighth.
The Crawdads wouldn’t get on to the board until the top of the eight when Cristian Iona was hit by a pitch, sending Jake Gunther home. Cody Freeman then scored after a sacrifice fly from Trevor Hauver. Gunter would hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth to end the Crawdads scoring.
