Hickory Crawdads Fall in Shortened Game to Seventh Inning

The Hickory Crawdads lost to the Rome Braves Friday night, 5-3 in seven innings. The second game of the proposed doubleheader was rained out. Rain in Georgia forced the postponement of Thursday’s game to a doubleheader on Friday. But the two teams could only manage one of those two games Friday night.

Neither team scored until the fourth inning. In the home half of the inning, the Braves tagged Crawdads starter Jose Corniell with three runs. He completed the inning and started the fifth inning, but got tagged with two more runs without getting anyone out. He left with a stat line of five hits, five runs allowed, four of them earned, while striking out three.

The Crawdads offense was held to just three hits, but Keyber Rodriguez hit a three run home run in the fifth inning.

The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday.
