Hickory Crawdads Drops Season Opener at Winston-Salem

The Hickory Crawdads fell in their season opener at Winston-Salem Friday night, 7-5.

Down 3-0 after four innings, Hickory got their bats going in the sixth inning, putting runners on the corners with one gone for Cristian Inoa. Inoa laced a single through the left side of the infield to plate Thomas Saggese. The Crawdads kept the inning going with a pair of bases loaded walks from Frainyer Chavez and Trevor Hauver, which knotted the game at three apiece.

The Dash would hit a three run home run to take a 6-3 lead in the bottom half of the sixth inning.

The Crawdads fought right back in the next half inning, when Inoa stroked a double all the way to the center field wall. That plated Chris Seise and Keyber Rodriguez, cutting the Dash lead to 6-5.

However, an insurance run from the Dash in the home half of the seventh gave the final 7-5 score.
