Hickory Crawdads Drop Second Straight at Hudson Valley

The Hickory Crawdads fell on the road to the Hudson Valley Renegades, 6-3 Thursday night.

After giving up a run in the home half of the second inning, the Crawdads took the lead with two rins in the third inning. Konner Piotto singled to open the inning for Hickory. Jayce Easley hit a bunt that was intended to sacrifice himself to move Piotto. Instead, a throwing error by the pitcher allowed Piotto to go to third and Easley made it to second. Alejandro Osuna then hit a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Piotto to score and Easley to move to third base. Easley came home after Cristian Inoa ground out to end the scoring for the Crawdads.

Hudson Valley would score three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth for a commanding 6-2 lead. Hickory would tack on their final run of the game in the top of the eighth inning. With one out, Frainyer Chavez tripled. Cody Freeman drove him home with a single, but Hickory would strand Freeman and the final score ended at 6-3.

Freeman went three-for-four at the plate with an RBI. Piotto was one-of-three with an RBI and a walk.

The loss drops Hickory to 24-27 on the second half of the season. They are 62-55 overall on the season. Hickory takes on the Renegades through Sunday.
