Hickory Crawdads Drop Game Two of Series With Rome

The Hickory Crawdads dropped their second straight game to open the season, falling 4-1 to the Rome Emperors in Georgia on Saturday.

Held to just three hits in the season opener, the Crawdads had better luck with seven hits in this contest, and managed to score their first run of the season.

Rome scored a pair of runs in the first inning, putting Hickory in the hole from the start. The Emperors tacked on two more in the fourth inning.

The Crawdads scored in the top of the fifth inning. Hickory got back-to-back singles from Tucker Mitchell and Yeison Morrobel to open the inning. A Quincy Scott ground out advanced both runners a base. Yosy Galan then hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Mitchell to score from third.

No Crawdads batter garnered more than one hit in the contest, but Galan did hit a double in the top of the eighth inning for the lone extra base hit.
