Hickory City Council Meets In Regular Session Tuesday, Speed Limit Reduced On Stretch Of Roadway

Hickory City Council met in regular session Tuesday night (January 5). Minutes, second readings, and the consent agenda were all approved. Items on the consent agenda included the reduction of the speed limit to 25 miles-per-hour along 12th Street NE, 39th Avenue NE, 12th Street Court NE, 13th Street NE, 39th Avenue Place NE, and 13th Street Place NE.

Also included in the consent agenda was the approval of a resolution accepting the offer of $80,000 from Jacomine Investments LLC for the purchase of city-owned property at 1730 1st Avenue SW and authorize the advertisement for upset bids. The property is approximately 4.66 acres. The consent agenda also included the acceptance of the offer to purchase city-owned property at 932 3rd Street Place SW in the amount of $154,725.

The voluntary non-contiguous annexation of property at 4815 1st Street NW in Hickory was unanimously approved following a public hearing. There were no appointments to boards and commissions at Tuesday’s meeting. Mayor Hank Guess reminded the audience that there are still vacant positions available.
