Hickory City Council Meets In Regular Session

Hickory City Council met in regular session Tuesday night (September 7). Minutes, second readings, and the consent agenda were all unanimously approved.

City Council approved a Rezoning Petition for property located at 2909 16th Street NE (Sandy Ridge Rd) with the requirement that the developer sit down with the community, church, and city planners, with oversight of the city manager, to hear concerns and have collaboration.

City Manager Warren Wood presented the guidelines for redistricting. City Council voted to affirm the legal mandates and guiding principles that will be utilized by the consultants to create a new ward boundary map.

The Meeting was adjourned to closed session, then a short time later City Council approved a resolution by the City of Hickory approving the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the State of North Carolina and local governments on proceeds relating to the settlement of opioid litigation.
