Hickory City Council Meets, Continues Items Until First November Meeting

Hickory City Council met in regular session Tuesday (October 17). Minutes, second readings, and the consent agenda were all approved. Council held a public hearing for consideration of the voluntary non-contiguous annexation of approximately 49.21 acres at 3940 River Road. City Council continued the public hearing until the November 7 meeting.

Council also held a public hearing for the consideration of a Rezoning Petition for that same property on River Road from R-20 Residential to Planned Development. Council continued the public hearing until the November 7 meeting.

In addition Tuesday, council held a public hearing for the consideration to close an unused alley located off 3rd Avenue SE. This item was approved. Library Director Sarah Greene presented the 2024-2027 Hickory Public Library Strategic Plan. City Council voted to accept the plan.
