Hickory City Council Approves New Downtown Social District

Hickory City Council met in regular session Tuesday night (November 2). Minutes, second readings, and the consent agenda were all approved.

A public hearing was held to discuss a downtown social district, per the new House Bill 890 that was recently signed into law by Governor Roy Cooper. A social district is a designated outdoor area in which individuals may consume alcoholic beverages sold by businesses with ABC permits. The new downtown social district was unanimously passed. Also Tuesday night, the Business Development Committee presented the Business. Well Crafted. awards to six local businesses in the community.
