Hickory City Council Approves Multiple Items Following Public Hearings

Hickory City Council met in regular session Tuesday (March 15). Minutes, second readings, and the consent agenda were all unanimously approved.

Public hearings were held for four rezoning requests. One of the requests was for 47.4 acres on Section House Road between 34th Street Place NE and Sipe Road from R-1 Residential and R-20 Residential to R-2 Residential. The second rezoning request was for 13.7 acres near the southwest corner of Cloninger Mill Road and 16th Street NE from R-2 Residential to R-3 Residential.

A third rezoning request was for approximately 19.5 acres at 4331 and 4405 North Center Street from R-2 Residential to Planned Development. The fourth rezoning request was for 8.86 acres off Startown Road between Short Road and Robinwood Road from R-20 Residential to Planned Development. All four rezoning requests were approved by council following public hearings.

A public hearing was also held for the voluntary contiguous annexation of 8.86 acres off Startown Road between Short Road and Robinwood Road. Council approved this item as well. Hickory City Council also appointed a member to a city commission before adjourning into closed session.
