Hickory Ballet & Performing Arts Presents Peter Pan

Audiences are invited to visit Neverland when over 50 children and youth from the Hickory Ballet & Performing Arts studio present Peter Pan, Broadway’s timeless musical.

Performances will take place at the JE Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, and at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.

Prepare to be enchanted when a sprinkle of fairy dust sends Peter, Wendy, Michael and John flying off on their marvelous journey to Neverland. In the words of Sir James M. Barrie, who penned the classic tale on which the musical is based, the group takes flight following these most unusual directions: “Second star to the right, and straight on till morning.”

“We are so delighted to present this enduring classic for local audiences,” says Leanna Bodnar, HBPA Executive Director. “Captain Hook, Smee, the pirates, Tinker Bell, Tiger Lily, the crocodile and all the other characters will bring the well-loved story to life. And, yes, Peter, Wendy, Michael and John will take flight thanks to the flying effects provided by ZFX! Special projections will be provided by Sigmon Theatricals, a Charlotte company.”

Bodnar shares her personal connection to the musical. “When I was performing in the National Tour of Jerome Robbins’ “Broadway,” Peter Pan was a short, but exciting segment of the show. I understudied the role of Peter and learned how to fly. I am so pleased to get to be a part of HBPA’s full production this spring.”

Peter Pan is a musical based on the play by Sir J. M. Barrie. Lyrics by Carolyn Green. Music by Morris (Moose) Charlap. Additional lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Additional music by Jule Styne. Originally directed, choreographed and adapted by Jerome Robbins. Peter Pan is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International (MTI). All authorized materials are also provided by MTI.
