LENOIR, N.C. (WHKY)  — A week of free family-friendly activities celebrating unity, culture and community is coming to Lenoir as the 52nd Harambee Arts Festival returns Saturday, August 8, through Friday, August 14.

All events will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, 313 Greenhaven Drive NW.

The festival begins Saturday, August 8, with Family Fun Day from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., featuring food, desserts, water slides, music, a video gaming truck and a photo booth.

Additional events include a Gospel Extravaganza on Sunday, J.H. Jones All-Star Basketball Games on Monday, a Senior Citizens Banquet on Tuesday, Game Night on Wednesday, a Recognition Banquet on Thursday and the festival concludes Friday evening with Boots on the Ground, a country-themed concert featuring DJ James Duke.

All events are free and open to the public.
