Georgia Woman Arrested on Fugitive Warrant & Local Charges

33-year-old Keyona Shawantae Byrd of Macon, Georgia (who also lists an address on Cordia Circle in Newton) has been arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers on a long list of charges, including a felony fugitive warrant. Locally, she’s charged with two counts each of felony larceny and misdemeanor larceny, along with single counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, misdemeanor child abuse, resisting a public officer, and reckless driving to endanger.

Byrd is wanted by the Sheriff’s Office in Bibb County, Georgia on charges of aggravated battery and theft by taking. According to documents provided by the Catawba County Clerk of Court’s office, Byrd has violent tendencies. Factors in determining the suspect’s bond include her alleged assault of an officer and failure to appear in court.

Byrd was jailed yesterday (May 21) in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond on the fugitive warrant set at $20,000, secured. She was given a $19,000 bond on the other charges. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton with another court date coming up on June 15.
