Georgia Residents Arrested On Meth Trafficking Charges In Catawba County

47-year-old Garry Michael Turpin and 41-year-old Kristy Lee Ashley, both of Norcross, Georgia, were arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. They’re each charged with three felony counts of traffic in methamphetamine along with single felony counts of conspire to traffic meth and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for controlled substance.

Sheriff’s investigators conducted an investigation this past Saturday (October 7), during which two Georgia residents were reportedly found in possession of nine kilos of methamphetamine. The narcotics seizure occurred in the parking lot of the Loves Travel Stop on Hwy 10 West at approximately 11:00 a.m. Saturday. The two suspects were taken into custody.

The Hickory Police Department and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation. The two suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Catawba County Detention Facility. Both suspects remained in jail as of earlier today (October 10) under $150,000 secured bond apiece. They were both scheduled to appear in District Court Monday (October 9).
