Further Investigation In Lenoir Multiple Fatality Case Reveals Man Shot Family Members, Himself

According to authorities, an incident in Lenoir in which multiple people were killed is a murder-suicide case. More information was released Thursday afternoon (July 1) in connection to the incident on Laurel Place NW in which four people were killed. As WHKY reported Thursday, the victims are 58-year-old Ronald Albert Ward, 29-year-old Ronald James Ward, 18-year-old Katlyn Nichole Ward and 15-year-old Emily Grace Ward. All four individuals home address is the same as the scene of the incident.

According to a statement released late Thursday afternoon by the Lenoir Police Department, evidence gathered during the course of the investigation revealed that Ronald James Ward shot his sisters and father before intentionally setting the home on fire and shooting himself.

Following the initial 9-1-1 call from a neighbor, officers arrived at the home within three minutes. Upon arrival, officers immediately attempted to render medical attention to the victims, but they had already passed away. All four bodies have been transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office where a cause of death will be determined.

Information and evidence gathered during the investigation indicates that Ronald James Ward was the only suspect involved in the case.
